Marisa Berenson: A Life in Pictures

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

70′s fashion and beauty icon Marisa Berenson has always been a personal style icon of mine. There is now a fabulous 240 page Rizzoli hardcover book of photos that chronicles her life in front of the lens….featuring photos by Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, David Bailey, Hiro, Helmut Newton, Henry Clarke, Norman Parkinson, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Steven Meisel- this will make a great gift for any fashionable coffee table….

Prada Spring/Summer 2012

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

This is video from the Prada Spring/Summer 2012 collection from Milan. I loved this show. I could watch it over and over. I loved the art direction. I seriously need to find out who did the music. The whole thing was beautiful to behold. I  adored the modern simplicity of the beauty….which perfectly complimented the fashion.

Pat McGrath bleached the models eyebrows out and then recreated them by filling them in with beige or gray.  She used her fingers to sheer out full coverage foundation across the models faces. Barely there cheek. Pastel pink lipstick blended well with concealer on the lips. Black pencil in the rim of the eye, gloss washed across the lid. Guido Palau did an extreme side part and then curled sections with an iron to look like the girls actually set their own hair with bobby pins- for an organic curl-he wanted the girls to look like they did their hair themselves….

Spider Lashes…..

Friday, August 26th, 2011

Lovers of clumpy lashes- rejoice! This is your time. If Pat McGrath says it’s ok- you’d better believe it’s ok. Think Twiggy in the 60′s. McGrath designed the makeup look for Lanvin’s Fall 2011 collection which featured black shadow painted on and blended out toward the outside edge of the eye framed by clumped together spider lashes. Get ready to see lots of clumpy lashes hit the streets. It’s certainly an easy look to create at home- you probably have already given yourself spider lashes at some point. So, if you get heavy handed with the mascara- don’t worry. You’re in fashion for Fall! I appreciate McGrath’s philosophy about the look she created for Lanvin- ”It’s the girls looking like they’ve done the makeup themselves. It’s all about imperfection.”

I’m really excited about Fall. I always am. It’s my favorite season…..I always get inspired around this time of the year. I love the transition from Summer to Fall. It’s a good time to get excited about self expression! Change things up for yourself. It can be as simple as changing the lipstick you wear daily- the favorite you carry in your makeup bag. The way you wear your hair. Anything. It’s all for you. It’s your personal symbol of seasonal transition. What changes will you make? Head over to Tangerine Living for some inspiration.

RCK- Red Carpet Kolour.

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

Miracle in a bottle? For some women this Spring-Summer season….they may very well be referring to RCK as that very thing. I recently saw an actress who looked the best I have ever seen her look. Hands down. Glowing. Her skin was gorgeous. It wasn’t just her face I was mesmerized by- it was her body….her arms….her legs…..her skin tone looked FANTASTIC. When asked about this- the actress summed it up and credited her uber talented celebrity Makeup Artist, Joanna Schlip, and RCK- Red Carpet Kolour. Turns out-Joanna is also the genius behind the brand RCK.  In her work as a top celeb MU Artist-Joanna saw the need for a body glow that truly performed. MU Artists are constantly looking for the magic elixir or product to make our jobs easier and Joanna actually went to work and DID IT. Body glow is always an issue for Artists- especially for Artists that make up celebrities for the red carpet, or for personal appearances- because we know that our job never ends with just the face. The skin on the rest of the body needs attention and love, too. Especially once the sun pops out during the warmer Spring-Summer months when celebs are showing even more skin- they want head to toe GLOW. For years now, I have been blending several products together to get my desired body glow delivered onto my clients. Those days are over now that I have found RCK. Red Carpet Kolour comes in Light, Medium, and Tan. Packed with vitamins and fragrance free (YES!!)- not only does it perfect and tone the skin…bringing instant luminosity and a youthful glow- it goes to work- actually blending and smoothing away the appearance of cellulite and stretch marks, erasing hyper pigmentation, and veins. Best part is that once it dries- IT DOESN’T MOVE. It will not come off on your clothing. I think it’s time to show some skin………

Rag & Bone.

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

I love Rag & Bone’s design sensibility. Rag & Bone are David Neville and Marcus Wainwright. They’ve described their woman as-  ”a tomboy with a girlish streak”. Sounds good to me. I would say that describes the look I am most drawn to in fashion. They channel a mutual love for effortless chic, men’s suiting for women, fine tailoring and uniform dressing- all things of which I am a big fan of when it comes to fashion.

The Rag & Bone website is a good one. Not only can you shop, get DIY advice and watch their shows online, they now have their own blog up which always has some really interesting stuff up.
