Kusco-Murphy Lavender Hair Creme

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

I am pretty much obsessed with Kusco-Murphy’s Lavender Hair Creme -not just for myself but also for my clients. Personally-I don’t like product in my hair- I really don’t like to put anything in it. Recently, after cutting my hair, my friend and hairdresser Cori Bardo put this through my hair-and now I am hooked. For me, this has the perfect scent with a clean, soft, feel to it. It makes my hair smell like a walk through a lavender field and it gives my hair softness and refinement. It adds compliments to my curls, and also gives me soft, sleek control when I choose to straighten it out. Can’t say enough good things about it. I am a lavender person and this has a true, clean, fresh lavender scent. I love it.

In my makeup bag……

Monday, November 7th, 2011

I am in love with Laura Mercier’s Gel Lip Colours. My current daily wear is Dollface which is a sheer bright pink. I love these gel based lipsticks because they are a perfect balance of sheer color saturation with a silky, shiny finish. I alternate between Dollface and Sweet Cherry which is a gorgeous sheer red.

Get out. Get inspired. Get ART….

Sunday, October 16th, 2011

The last couple of weeks have been jam packed with art events in Los Angeles. I made it out to some amazing gallery shows and a record breaking modern art auction. It was a reminder that SOME PEOPLE still have a load of money in this economy. Though it was truly painful to watch one of my favorite Ellsworth Kelly pieces get sold before my eyes (so close….yet SO FAR AWAY $$$$) I definitely still wanted to applaud the buyer. I do love a man with good taste in art….

Prada Spring/Summer 2012

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

This is video from the Prada Spring/Summer 2012 collection from Milan. I loved this show. I could watch it over and over. I loved the art direction. I seriously need to find out who did the music. The whole thing was beautiful to behold. I  adored the modern simplicity of the beauty….which perfectly complimented the fashion.

Pat McGrath bleached the models eyebrows out and then recreated them by filling them in with beige or gray.  She used her fingers to sheer out full coverage foundation across the models faces. Barely there cheek. Pastel pink lipstick blended well with concealer on the lips. Black pencil in the rim of the eye, gloss washed across the lid. Guido Palau did an extreme side part and then curled sections with an iron to look like the girls actually set their own hair with bobby pins- for an organic curl-he wanted the girls to look like they did their hair themselves….

The (un)official end of Summer…Labor Day weekend at the beach in LA….

Monday, September 5th, 2011

It’s the (un)official end of Summer….so I’m spending some quality time reflecting at my favorite local beach in Los Angeles. Yeah…ok, we know that Summer doesn’t officially end until September 23rd and residents of LA enjoy beach weather year round….but still. We get into it. Why not. Speaking of which….LA beach goers….I have a mystery for you….where am I?

There is a light at the end of the tunnel….and if you follow it….

It will lead you to the stairs….

Metaphor Monday! This Labor Day- as you reflect on the many fruits of your labor- really think about where you want to be in life. Design your life how you dream it to be. Maybe you are where you want to be. Realize that accomplishment. Let that sink in. Be proud. Celebrate the fact that you are taking care of yourself. Working hard at being “you.”

Happy Labor Day!

Accidental Art of the day…..

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

I see art in everything. It’s the way my brain makes sense of it all. The universe presents these moments in life….and if you are lucky….you are “present” enough to capture them. In your mind, in your heart….in your camera. I love it when my camera mysteriously captures a moment on it’s own. I look at it as a gift. The gift of Accidental Art. It’s happened to you- you accidentally hit the shutter on your camera or phone. You don’t know how. You don’t know when. And then….when you least expect it…Abstract Art. Just for you. There is a story behind the shot…..a mystery waiting to be revealed.  This is one of my recent favorites. I’ll share more from my personal collection in the days to come…..

Laura Mercier HydraTint SPF 15

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

My current personal fav in my makeup bag…as in the one I carry in my purse-”go to” lip color is Laura Mercier HydraTint in Crimson Tint. I love it. If you haven’t yet tried Laura Mercier’s HydraTints- go quickly and seek them out. The colors in the collection are beautiful. The texture is light and creamy.  Crimson Tint is a light and bright red. Flattering to any skin tone- this has been hands down my Summer lipstick staple. I love the pop of color and the fact that it stays on my lips without drying them out. Although moisture packed- it never feels heavy on the lips. A lot of lip tints dry to a matte stain- thus drying the lips out. By applying direct from the tube you get full tint and moisture quenching saturation- but you can also lightly layer the color by tapping the HydraTint onto your lips with your finger for a barely there hint of color with a lip quenching feel. With SPF 15 it also has you covered in the sun. There are seven colors for you to choose from…..

Get screened!

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

Yesterday I had my annual skin cancer screening and came out of it relieved and grateful. Melanoma is on the rise ( there are many possibilities for why this is the case- the Earth’s weakened magnetosphere, chemicals in our food, chemicals in the air we breathe, chemicals in our skin care products, etc, I could go on and on…) and the bottom line is that this is something you want to catch quick. Plus, it feels GREAT to have the Doctor tell you that the mole you were feeling paranoid about is not a threat and in fact- nothing to worry about at all. So, go get screened. And enjoy the sun-get a healthy dose of it- but be sure to protect your skin. Wear that sunscreen.
